On Friday 27th April we attended West Dunbartonshire’s Working for Business awards along with our colleagues at Marshall Construction. It’s the second year that this event has been held but you would have thought that it was an event that had been going on for many years. The awards are a celebration of businesses based in West Dunbartonshire and a great way to promote the region as a place to do business.
We certainly agree that it’s a great place to do business. We are on site with our single biggest development in Dumbarton and can genuinely say that we have enjoyed the experience of working in the region. That’s why we chose to sponsor one of the award categories on the night, Developing the Young Workforce. This category stood out to us because we absolutely understand the importance and need for young people in the Construction Industry. We need to be nurturing the young and offering good training and progression opportunities so that in the future we can address the skills shortages that we face now.
Emma Garry represented Cullross on the judging panel and presented the award on the night. She said:
“The judging process was very difficult because all those shortlisted were worthy winners. All the candidates were dedicated to furtherance of the young people who work in their organisations and could provide evidence of really positive outcomes as a result. In the end, Campbell Air Conditioning took the award and massive congratulations to them.
The evening itself was superb. Karen Dunbar was a great compare and when I wasn’t crying with laughter, I enjoyed great food, drinks and company. Well done to all those who helped organise the event, it was a triumph!”
